Robert Lopez
Robert Lopez brings over 20 years of experience in community development, finance, and banking. Throughout his career, he has focused on building strong relationships and supporting community connections. Robert has worked with Community Development Financial Institutions, non-profits, and other organizations to increase access to financial resources and opportunities.
He has held various roles supporting small businesses, including Chief Credit & Operating Officer at Accessity (formerly Accion San Diego), SBDC lending counselor, Chief Operating Officer for VEDC in Los Angeles, Director of Servicing at the fintech company Dealstruck in Carlsbad, and earlier banking positions at Union Bank and California Coast Credit Union. His efforts have been recognized with awards such as the SBA Financial Services Champion of the Year and as a finalist for San Diego’s Next Top Business Leaders Under 40.
Robert currently serves on the credit committee for California Southern Small Business Development Corporation. He has also served on the California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity (CAMEO), CDC Bankers, and the City Heights Small Business Association boards.
Growing up in South LA, Robert understands the challenges small businesses and communities face, fueling his passion for community development—a passion rooted in his adolescence.
Robert holds a BA in Urban Studies with an emphasis in Public Administration and a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) from San Diego State University. He lives in San Diego with his wife and two young daughters, aged 4 and 7.
