Mario Ordoñez-Calderón
Mario, a Navy Veteran and Indigenous Mayan, has committed his career to empowering underserved communities through education and mentorship. As the Executive Director of Un Mar de Colores, Mario leads programs that connect youth to the ocean, fostering the next generation of environmental stewards. By breaking down barriers to coastal access, he promotes both mental wellness and conservation. His work is centered on justice and equity, ensuring that underrepresented communities have access to the ocean and its healing power. Mario’s efforts inspire change and build resilient communities across San Diego and Baja regions. Additionally, he serves on California’s inaugural Environmental Justice Advisory Board (EJ Advisory Board), where he advises the State on equity-focused policies to better address the ocean and coastal needs of California’s diverse communities. His leadership continues to drive systemic change in coastal accessibility and environmental stewardship for all.
