Bianca Bonilla
Bianca Bonilla is the Executive Director of Botanical Community Development Initiatives, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering environmental justice and community empowerment in San Diego County. With over two decades of experience, Bianca has led initiatives in seed sovereignty, food justice, and culturally relevant environmental education, focusing on BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and migrant communities. As the founder of Community Roots Farm in Oceanside for the past 10 years, she has transformed the farm into a vital space for education, food access, and community connection.
As a public health specialist and advocate for equitable access to green spaces and healthy food systems, Bianca brings a holistic and inclusive perspective to environmental and social justice efforts. Her work encompasses building regional seed hubs, leading cross-border biodiversity initiatives, and creating opportunities for underrepresented youth to engage with the natural sciences. She emphasizes community-led solutions, collaboration with local organizations, and the integration of ancestral wisdom to promote healing and resilience.
